When slurry is pumped into the dewatering bag, water flows out through the fabric while the solids remain inside the bag. Eventually, fine solid particles will accumulate a “filter cake” on the surface of the geotextile bag. The outer layer of the geotextile bag acts as a “filter membrane,” allowing clean water to flow out while retaining the solids within the bag.
